about

the story: An anthem of individuality. The Loon is an aquatic bird known for being an excellent swimmer. They propel themselves with their feet above & under water while their wings provide assistance. Loons are poorly adapted to moving on land & typically avoid dry land, except when nesting–even then, they build just at the water’s edge. But, a loon will never be a fish–much like the philosophical nomad that wants desperately to be included but never quite finds “home” when he looks outside himself.

lyrics

Born & bred, raised all along
To call it home, both sand & loam
Always constant, Faithful & true
A smile & wave to passers through
True of heart, absent of song
A different beat, so different all along

A fish out of water, a loon on the land
Air in the gills, walking on sand
At home on water, the loon at sea
But never a fish shall he be

An Expanse of blue, hereditary sod
Or pastures new, send my soul abroad
Fruit of the tree, never to roam
Wary to see, I have no home
Blue of heart, absent of song
A different beat, so different all along

A fish out of water, a loon on the land
Air in the gills, walking on sand
At home on water, the loon at sea
But never a fish shall he be

Black sheep, blue fish
Loonie bird, sing a song
Black sheep, blue Fish
Loonie bird, get along

A fish out of water, a loon on the land
Air in the gills, walking on sand
At home on water, the loon at sea
But never a fish shall he be

Black sheep, blue fish
Loonie bird, sing a song
Black sheep, blue Fish
Loonie bird, get along

Black sheep, blue fish
Loonie bird, sing a song
Black sheep, blue Fish
Loonie bird, get along

Get along, get along
Get along
